Picture Distribution and Re-Take

There was an issue with the printing of some of the student pictures by Lifetouch. We will distribute the missing picture packages as soon as they arrive. Our picture retake day is scheduled for Friday, November 20th. We may need to schedule an additional picture retake day after Thanksgiving break.

Updated Plan for Transition to Full In-Person Learning

We want to thank all the students and parents for the support during the start of the school year and through this new transition. Students have done a tremendous job of wearing masks, socially distancing, and keeping hands clean. As we move into the new phase we ask that the students continue their efforts to help keep themselves and others healthy.

A few highlights for the transition back:

November 9 – Students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 12 will begin full in-person instruction. Students in other grades will continue in the Blended Learning hybrid format during this week.

November 16 – Students in grades 8, 10 and 11 will begin full in-person instruction.

We will have a new schedule that includes four lunches (one for each team) so we can limit the numbers in the cafeteria. We will still only have 2 students per table, but we will also use seats in the auditorium.

We will continue to use stagger dismissals when entering the school, between classes, and when exiting the school. Lockers will not be used.

Teachers will socially distance seats in the classroom as much as possible.

Individual at Manor Middle School tests positive for COVID-19

Penn Manor has become aware of one person in the Manor Middle School community who has tested positive for COVID-19. Below is a letter from superintendent Mike Leichliter with more details.

October 8, 2020

Dear Penn Manor Family:

    We have recently learned that a member of the Manor Middle School community has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual will not be in school until he or she has recovered, and all individuals considered to have had close contact with this individual in the school setting have been notified.

    We are not closing the school at this time.

    As a result of the positive case, Penn Manor has taken the following actions:

  • Contacted the PA Department of Health for further guidance
  • Cleaned and disinfected locations visited by the individual who tested positive
  • Identified individuals who had close contact with the infected individual and communicated directly with them on their next steps, which could include a 14-day quarantine.

    Please note that personal information about the individual, including his/her name, is confidential to protect patient privacy. We are sending our best wishes to this member of our school community.

    As a reminder, please keep your child home from school if he or she is feeling ill for any reason. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are cough, fever, loss of taste and shortness of breath. Muscle aches, sore throat and fatigue also are common. If your child exhibits any of these symptoms, please consult with your family medical provider immediately.

    Please continue to practice social distancing, wash hands often, cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces and wear a mask in public, including in school. We face this challenging situation together, and we are grateful for your continued support of our school district.

Schedule change week of Oct. 12

Penn Manor schools will be closed on Monday, October 12. As a result, Group A will be in session on Tuesday (10/13) and Wednesday (10/14), and Group B will attend on Thursday (10/15) and Friday (10/16). There will be no online instruction on Wednesday (10/14).
